When Andrea began working with horses her goal was to ensure that the horse understood what it needs to do to fulfill the goals of the human in a fast, trustful and nonviolent way.
Andrea selects her research projects in an interdisciplinary, practice-relevant, responsible way. This sharpens the understanding of the importance of a professional, scientifically based and economically efficient handling of the horse and of the horse’s natural resources. The subject of her research focuses mainly on the content taught in the core subject areas within the Equine Coach Training. Until now, very few conventional horse-training methods have received scientific substantiation. Often the few studies that do exist manage to contradict each other, which, especially in the case of behavioral studies, is partly due to insufficiently mature scientific methodology.
Andrea’s research partners wish to compare procedures on the basis of 'evidence-based science' and evaluate these according to objective criteria. Concrete recommendations will be derived from assured medical and ethological knowledge and verified in practical use. Priority will initially be given to topics in the field of equine learning behavior but Andrea will also initiate studies into other aspects of equine training, such as the development of stomach ulcers in young horses during weaning and training or the health implications of further training, for example, overwork and lack of attention paid to physical deficits. Economic topics will also be incorporated here.
The results of the scientific work directly influences the contents of this unique equine coach training program. Every participant who enters this program can be sure that the knowledge he or she gains is appropriate, understandable and based on facts and scientific competence.
