About Andrea

Andrea Kutsch is a famous German equine specialist and best-selling author. More than 200 TV documentaries have been produced about her training techniques and outstanding knowledge about horses.

Andrea learned that there are lots of horse trainers out there with lots of different handling methods and views on training. Everybody, in every riding discipline, wants to do it right, preferably without creating problems for the horse and, of course, keeping it cost-effective for the owner and stable. But what is right? That was the big question that Andrea Kutsch, as a professional horse trainer and coach, has been asking all of her life.

From 1990 to 1999, Andrea was a business woman, was playing Polo and was supporting the German Polo Player Thomas Winter, building up his Polo School in Hamburg, Germany. Her main interest was to train Polo horses and retrain thoroughbreds after their racing career for the polo game.

From 1999 to 2006, Andrea was a student of the renowned equine trainer and best-selling author Monty Roberts, known all over the world as “The Horse Whisperer”. Andrea learnt firsthand from him, conducting workshops, building schools, running international demonstrations, starting young horses and working with remedial horses. During this tremendous period of learning she began fundamental research work to redefine our approach to horses. She began integrating the non-verbal language of horses into her work, to educate and communicate with the horses more effectively and in a non-violent way.

In 2003 she founded the AKA | Andrea Kutsch Academy in Hamburg, Germany, with an academic program focused on the development of equine communication science.

From 2004 to 2006 Andrea enjoyed an inimitable learning period in the racehorse industry at the side of the awesome manager Simon Stokes of the world famous Stud Fährhof near Bremen, Germany. The former NH Champion Jockey and licensed trainer is also responsible for preparing young horses for a racing career and for the coordination between the stud and the racing stables. Simon shared his tremendous knowledge with Andrea and allowed her to practice at his side, working with the stud’s high quality yearlings.

In 2006 Andrea founded her first Bachelor of Science course of studies “Equine Communication Science” to create a nonviolent equestrian training method based on scientific research and not on faith or experience.

From 2006 to 2010, Andrea was responsible for restructuring and integrating her knowledge into Stud Lewitz in northern Germany, the largest stud farm in the world with more than 4000 horses, run by 3-time European show-jumping champion and Olympic gold medal winner Paul Schockemöhle and also prepared the crossbred horses for the famous dressage center Hof Kasselmann. During that period of time she gained a huge amount of knowledge from the ambitious challenge of working with the horses and staff, especially in regard to coaching horseman to integrate this successful communication procedure into all areas of their daily work with horses.

From 2010 to 2011 Andrea was trained by well-known international coaches in nonviolent communication, systemic solution-focused coaching as well as personality training to upgrade her expertise to model a holistic educational training, the Andrea Kutsch Online Academy which includes coaching of horses and people too.

Andrea is a wholehearted teacher who lives to educate horse people to create an inner-bonding with horses and have success with them in whatever discipline they choose.
